David Wood, age 83, of Helena, Montana passed comfortably in his home on March 25th, 2026.

David was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1942, married Patricia Wood in 1961 then moved to Helena, Montana in 1974. David had two jobs for the State of Montana. He worked for OPI for over 10 years and then worked at MPERA for 5 years before retiring.

David also retired from the Birdseye Fire Department after serving 10 years.

David was an avid outdoorsman, He loved hiking, camping, moving cattle, and fixing fences. If David was not having fun on the Four-Wheeler, you could find him working on a vehicle or tractor. He also loved to take in and teach children right from wrong and the joys about life. David had enjoyed getting to know, watching, laughing and working side by side with the “Wamsley Boys” and their father Mark.

David loved going to church at Canyon Ferry Road Baptist Church and loved watching and listening to the children. David’s wife Patricia wanted to extend her appreciation and love for the ladies at Costco that would always give David a hug and feed him food, as they loved seeing him smile. Then to Hospice for their endless help, concern, and response for David to the end.

David is survived by his loving wife Patricia and two sons Jeffery and Kenny (Karen). His grandchildren Karissa, Caleb, Kaitlin, Courtney, Chloe, Bryan, Tyler (Samantha), Eric (Susan), and Sister-in-law Tammy (Rocky) and Brother-in-law Tom (Linda). Lastly, survived by a good family friend Don (Nancy) Brodie.

A memorial service for David will be held on Saturday June 13, 2026 at 11:00 am at Canyon Ferry Baptist Church, 3384 Canyon Ferry Rd, East Helena, MT 59635.
