Obituary

Curtis Rayfield, 53, passed away on August 6, 2024, in Helena, Montana. Born on November 5, 1970, in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, Curtis was a spirited individual known for his easy-going nature and sharp wit. Curtis spent his formative years attending Clear Lake Elementary and Sedro-Woolley High School, where he developed a foundation that would carry him through various endeavors. His career spanned several demanding roles, from logging in the dense forests to operating heavy machinery. Curtis embraced the challenges of working as a haul truck driver in Montana's mines and even ventured to Alaska, where he worked on a tender boat with a close friend. A true outdoorsman, Curtis had a passion for fishing and hunting. He was in the process of sharing his enjoyment of these pasttimes with his grandson. Curtis also cherished the simple pleasure of scenic drives, always eager to explore new vistas. Curtis is survived by his loving wife, Angi Rayfield (Vander Vegt); sons, Andrew and Laine Rayfield; grandsons, Noah, Easton, Zayden, and Gunner Rayfield; brother, Ed Rayfield and his wife Joan; nephew, Travis Rayfield and his wife Betsy; and nieces, Adele Skinner (Rayfield) and her husband Shad, Katie Webber (Rayfield) and her husband Cameron, Stacie Bralens, and Kim Bralens. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Christine (Johnson) Rayfield, and sister, Cheryl (Rayfield) Goodman. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 14, 2024, at 2 PM at Papa Ray's in Montana City, MT, where friends and family will gather to honor the remarkable life of Curtis Rayfield.
