Obituary

Our family was not expecting Curts' life to be cut so short so soon. We are all devastated by this huge loss and he will be forever missed, but always in our thoughts and hearts.

Curt Harris was born August 28th, 1989, in Prescott, Arizona to Loren Harris and Elizabeth (Betty) O. Harris. Curt passed away November 22nd, 2024, due to complications of his diabetes at the age of 35 years old.

Curt was driven from the moment he learned to crawl. Never wanting to be left behind doing things with his two older siblings. He achieved milestones that amazed us all the time. Curt was adventurous, smart, witty and loyal to those that earned his respect. Curt wasn't a man of many words, but the silent observer that saw more than most in any situation. But when Curt had something to say those that knew him knew to stop and listen and enjoy the conversation.

From a young age, Curt was involved in T-ball, basketball, track, soccer and wrestling. As he got older his true passion was soccer. He played soccer all 4 years of High School and continued to play at Southwestern Community College in Coos Bay, Oregon on a scholarship. His other passion was being a mechanic. This passion began in high school when Curt rebuilt an engine for his beloved Dodge D50 aka "Little Blue", him and his brother Ben shared. Curt later became a mechanic for Bertz RV in Missoula.

Curt had an enthusiasm for any activity outside from hunting, hiking, camping, snowboarding, and the last few years riding his motorcycle, feeling the freedom, it gave his soul. Curt was dedicated to Boy Scouts from a young age enjoying the many life skills the leaders and projects taught him, to help build his character. With the assistance of great scout leaders and the support of his family Curt achieved the highest award of Eagle Scout.

In the Curt's adult years, he moved to Montana where he officially found where he wanted to live and enjoyed the many amazing aspects of the outdoors. The past 4 years he had lived in Helena and was starting to make plans for a bigger future and seemed excited.

Curt took on the duties of uncle very seriously, his niece and him had a bond in many interests, but their favorite thing to do together was building amazing complicated creations with Legos. Alyssa always looked forward to which creation they would be making next for each birthday from princess castles to later on different cars. She will miss texting him randomly for advice or chats as she navigates through life. Curt was so excited to take Alyssa for her first motorcycle ride to the lake this past summer and that memory is one she will always have.

Curt is survived by his parents Loren Harris and Elizabeth O. Harris. His sister Amanda Harris, brother Ben Harris, his niece Alyssa Harris, Aunt Levon (Dave) Garner and Aunt Doris Harris.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date; location has yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Type1diabetes.com to help the fight to lower the costs of the medications that are required to survive for so many with Type 1.
