Obituary

Charlotte Ann Sherrodd, a beloved resident of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on April 14 in Helena, Montana, surrounded by her devoted family. She was 89 years old.

Born on March 14, 1935, in Faribault, Minnesota, Charlotte was the eldest of two daughters born to Theodore and Sylvia Langeslag. Her sister, Janet Bloom, resides in Gold Canyon, Arizona.

Tragically, Charlotte's father, Theodore, passed away in a farming accident when she was a young girl. Her mother, Sylvia, managed the family farm for a few years before relocating to Faribault, Minnesota.

During her youth, Charlotte cherished riding into town with her father to deliver milk to the local dairy, relishing the simple joy of an ice cream cone on the return journey. As a teenager, she enjoyed ice skating, participating in Girl Scouts, and working as a nanny during the summer months.

After graduating from Owatonna High School in 1951, Charlotte pursued higher education, attending Macalester University in St. Paul, Minnesota, for her freshman year, and subsequently transferring to Texas Tech for her sophomore year. She completed her degree in elementary education at Eastern Montana College in Billings, Montana, in 1956.

On December 19, 1955, Charlotte married the love of her life, Leo Sherrodd, in Billings, Montana. Together, they shared a deeply loving marriage and raised a beautiful family.

Throughout her career, Charlotte was dedicated to the field of education. Following teaching positions in various towns in Montana, the family settled in Gillette, Wyoming,

in 1971. There, Charlotte taught Remedial Reading at Eastside Elementary, MeadowLark Elementary, and 1st Grade at Conestoga Elementary until her retirement in 1997.

Charlotte and Leo proudly called Gillette home for 50 years, witnessing the city's growth and transformation. Among Charlotte's cherished memories was hosting her grandchildren during the summer for the Performing Arts Workshop.

In addition to her commitment to education, Charlotte found joy in painting, gardening, playing bridge, camping, and spending time at their cabin at Keyhole State Park. She and Leo also cherished their winters in Yuma, Arizona, for 20 years, while spending summers in Gillette.

Family was paramount to Charlotte and Leo. They eagerly anticipated their annual family vacations, exploring new destinations in their Winnebago camper.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leo Sherrodd, son Pat Sherrodd, and granddaughters Katie Howell and Jennifer Sherrodd. She is survived by her sister, Janet Bloom, daughter and son-in-law Sheri and Harry Howell, daughter-in-law Sandy Sherrodd, sons and daughters-in-law Lowell and Kim Sherrodd, Mark and Lisa Sherrodd, Kevin and Stephanie Sherrodd, and grandchildren Cody, Dillon, Bridger, Kristin, Lora, Kayla, Fisher, and Saylor

In accordance with her wishes, Charlotte will be cremated, and her and her husband's ashes will be scattered in the Black Hills of Wyoming, with a view overlooking Devils Tower.

Friends and family wishing to attend Charlotte's Celebration of Life. The service will be held at The Holy Trinity Episcopal Church of Gillette Wyoming, June 15th at 2:00 pm.
