P. Candace Sweet, age 73, peacefully passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena, Montana on January 27, 2026. She was born Saturday, March 8, 1952 at St. Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco, California to Oralee and Richard Sweet.

Spent her youth in Vallejo, CA, Las Vegas, NV, and Butte, MT. In high school she moved to Glasgow, MT and worked at the junior college food stand. Married at 15, she welcomed the best part of her life, daughter Elizabeth “Betsy”. She later married James M. Hutchens, who was the best dad and a great human being.

In the 1980’s she attended Helena Vo Tech. Receiving her nursing certificate and passing her state boards. After working for several years in skilled facilities, she found her passion for Home Health and Hospice. She enjoyed the people she cared for and all their history. Her co-workers meant the world to her, especially her “special friend” Sally Jellison.

At the turn of the century, a new love swept into her life; Deb Lund. Deb challenged, supported, and taught her about life and family. Deb’s family became Candace’s family.

She and Deb shared a love of baseball, even of it was for different teams. She like to travel, gamble, read, and spend time with friends. She loved Ida B, and all of her dearly departed dogs.

Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her wife Deb and her daughter Betsy and Betsy’s wife Kat. Candance had many friends; too numerous to name.
