Obituary

Georgia Camille Ladd (nee Clark), 88, of Clancy, Montana passed away peacefully of natural causes in her home surrounded by family on January 5, 2023.

Camille was born on July 11, 1934 in Creston, Iowa to James and Claudine Clark. She was later joined by brother Jim and sisters Sue and Marty. She attended school in Des Moines and Creston, graduating from Creston High School. She took piano and voice lessons all through school and was very involved in music classes and performing arts. She loved visiting her grandparents' farms in Hartville, Missouri and had many stories that she told us kids often. She worked for a jewelry store in Creston during her senior year of high school that sold candlewick glassware, thus starting her collection which was added to over the next 70 years. She attended secretarial school after high school and began her life-long career in the legal field.

Camille met Floyd "Bud" Ladd at a basketball game and they married on April 11, 1953. They started their family in Creston with son Eric who was followed by son Barry and daughters Shelly and Patti. She worked as a legal secretary in Creston, Boone, and Waterloo, Iowa until Bud's work brought them to Montana and Idaho. She continued her legal career in Great Falls, MT; Pocatello, Idaho, and finally in Helena where she worked until retirement.

Mom loved to travel and to go camping. Many weekends would find our family at Hebgen Lake fishing and driving through Yellowstone Park. Her dream trip came in 2000 when they traveled to Europe to visit exchange students that had lived with them over the years. She and dad traveled extensively after retirement, making several cross country trips and stopping at every antique store along the way. They especially enjoyed collecting Danish glassware after touring the factory in Denmark during their European trip. They collected other glassware and various antiques....no empty space on the wall was safe! She loved anything with hearts, whether it be jewelry, decor or heart shaped plates and dishes.

Mom was also a quilter and seamstress, sewing everything from doll clothes to three piece suits. In her later years she turned to quilting and made countless quilts for family members, new babies, and newlyweds. Every family member also had a quilted Christmas stocking that was filled with new knitted cotton dishrags each year.

Mom was also a very accomplished pianist and organist. She played both for all of the churches that she attended over the years and was also involved in the State and local Southern Baptist Convention music programs. She had both a piano and organ in her living room and played them often. She had a beautiful singing voice and was involved in choirs and music ministry in Iowa, Idaho, Utah and Montana. She was a long-time member of South Hills Baptist Fellowship, where she was the pianist until just recently. She was a strong and loving Christian woman who was an inspiration to many, faithfully serving God and her church family. Mom always claimed that God and Dr. Weiner saved her life twice in her battles with cancer. She always made sure everyone was comfortable, well fed and had clean sheets and fresh towels, she was the best hostess, even until the very end.

Camille is survived by her son Barry Ladd of Island Park, ID and daughter Patti and Bert Glueckert of Montana City, MT; Grandchildren Christi and Jared Youngs of Vail, AZ; Adam and Barb Ladd of Tucson, AZ; Paige Ladd of Island Park, ID; A.J. and Courtney Glueckert of Clancy, MT and Jolene and Zack Poetzsch of Clancy, MT; Great Grandchildren Archer, Mahlia and Kenzie Youngs. Camille was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bud, brother Jim, son Eric, daughter Shelly and daughter-in-law De.

Our family would like to thank St. Peter's Hospice, especially Kourtney, Janet, Christina, Barbara, and Howard for their outstanding and compassionate care of mom for the last 3 months. They were a blessing to have in our home.
