Byron Douglas Ham was born on September 13th 1948 to Charles & Montana Ham in Helena MT. He joined brothers Chucky & John. The family loved to spend time camping & fishing together all over the Northwest. In his youth Doug participated in football & boxing.
Doug graduated high school in Boulder MT in 1967 but he had many great stories of growing up in Butte. The family also lived in Helena, East Helena, Elliston & Avon. In 1967 Doug enlisted in the US Navy where he was stationed on the USS Rainer he visited many places including Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, he served until 1970. Doug was married to two women Carol Webster & Rebecca Gibson from these unions came Rae Ham, Tanny Lamere (Ham), Bessie Martin (Ham)& Wayne Ham. 10 grand children & 4 great grand children.
In his later years would volunteer his time, totaling well over 10,000 hrs at Fort Harrison where many people knew him as the popcorn or cookie guy. He loved being there & talking with everyone that came along fellow veterans, doctors, nurses of coarse the nurses & even a politician or two. He even had a story about meeting a popular country singer. In more recent years Doug enjoyed riding around the mountains in his sided by side with his dog Bandit & his good friend Suzie.
