Obituary

Bruce was the first child born to Grace and Raymond Meadows, in Canton, Ohio.

Two brothers followed, Paul and Lee. In high school in Louisville, Ohio, Bruce excelled at running in track meets all over the state. He followed his father's interest in ham radios and was an avid stamp collector. At age 18 he joined the Air Force. He served for more than six years and had foreign duty in both Turkey and American Samoa. Following his honorable discharge, he completed his B.S. at New Mexico State University, and his law degree at the University of Akron. He didn't love the practice of law, however, and decided to seek a master's degree at the University of Maryland. It was there that he met his wife, Judy. They were married in 1980, and Bruce immediately became a loving and supportive parent to BethAnn and Ted.

The new family moved to Helena in 1984 and were immediately adopted by this inclusive community. Bruce brought his investment business with him, and through that made a close friendship with Bill Beaman. Through their membership in the Montana Club's Wine Club other friendships were established. He continued to run well into his 60's, though not without pain and frustration.

Bruce was interested in a myriad number of things. He took classes in glassmaking, weaving, and watercolors. Judy and Bruce have been staunch supporters of Helena's arts community, serving on boards of directors and investing in the works of Montana's artists. Bruce also supported the restaurants in Helena. He and his close friends Al Swanson and Bill Grant had a habit of sitting at the bar at the Silver Star at lunchtime, working on the New York Times crossword puzzle and sipping soft drinks.

Over the past ten years, Judy and Bruce enjoyed travel all over the world. He never wanted to go to Paris until he visited the City of Light. Then he couldn't get enough of it. He repeated his phrase, "aren't we lucky?!" frequently. Finally, but not least in importance, Bruce loved working on his property. Whether it was clearing grasses away from the creek or fixing fallen fence posts, Bruce loved being outside. He loved taking walks, and visits to outdoor art installations such as Lincoln' Sculpture in the Wild and Tippit Rise in Fishtail.

Bruce's father predeceased him. He is survived by his immediate family Judy, BethAnn and Ted, his mother Grace and brothers Paul and Lee. Bruce was the most generous, loving and funny man, and he will be missed by so many. Simple Cremations is caring for his remains. The family would like to thank St. Peters' medical staff, Renaissance Elder Care, and St. Peters' Hospice for their care during the last 6 weeks of Bruce's life, as well as the loving attention of Frank Crowley. Bruce's family and friends will celebrate a life well lived when the snow melts and the leaves come out.
