Arlene Gail
Nehring
March 3, 1946 – April 18, 2026
Arlene Gail Nehring, 80, passed away on April 18, 2026. She was born on March 3, 1946.
Arlene lived a full and meaningful life, calling several states home over the years, including Iowa, Illinois, and Montana. She spent time in Liscomb and Newton, Iowa, before eventually settling in Toston, Montana. Wherever she went, she built lasting connections and left a mark through her kindness, strength, and steady presence.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who valued family above all else. Arlene was the loving mother of Sherry, Christy, Carey, and Ronnie, and she took great pride in her children and the family she built. She also shared a unique love story, having married the same man twice—first on July 17, 1962, and again on July 28, 1977.
Throughout her life, Arlene was known for her strong work ethic and willingness to take on many roles. She worked at Nehring’s Upholstery, King’s Food Host, and as a nursing home caregiver. She also worked with Dodger’s Clothing Company and spent time driving truck coast to coast. Above all, she was a dedicated homemaker who created a home filled with love and support for her family.
Arlene was a proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 32 great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished the time spent with each of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Larry; two grandsons; two brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Don Nehring of Toston, Montana; her children, Sherry Kissenger of Nevada, IA, Christy (Dan) Zipperian of Townsend, MT, Carey (Janine) Nehring of Newton, IA, and Ronnie(Jody) Nehring of Toston, MT; her sister, Helen Tysma of Moline, Illinois; along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other loved ones.
In addition to the Celebration of Life in Townsend, MT, services will be held at a later date in Liscomb, IA, with details to come as they are available.
Closing Thought:
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
