It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Tony (Anthony Lewis) Hurford, who passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2025, at the age of 65. Born in Plymouth, Indiana, on April 17, 1959, Tony was the fifth child of Frank and Julia Hurford. He was raised on the family farm alongside his siblings: Doug (Judy), Steve (the late Lee Ann), Deb (Chris), Frank, and Jack.
In 1979, Tony moved to Montana to help his brother Steve, along with Steve's wife, Lee Ann, and their sons, Bill and Chris, settle back in the state. It was there that Tony found his long-term career with Pepsi, retiring after 25 years of dedicated service.
Every spring and fall, Tony made the long journey back to Indiana to help his father with planting and harvesting crops. He never hesitated to lend a hand where needed, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to family.
For over 30 years, Tony served as a volunteer firefighter with the Eastgate Volunteer Fire Department, dedicating himself to his community with selfless spirit and unwavering commitment.
In addition to his work at Pepsi, Tony and Steve worked as homebuilders for 30 years, skillfully balancing their careers with hard work and dedication. This partnership was something Tony cherished deeply. Later in life, Tony found a passion for restoring old tractors, which brought him great joy and allowed him to continue his lifelong love of working with his hands.
Tony was known for his generous spirit and deep devotion to family. While he never asked for anything in return, he was always the first to offer a helping hand to those in need. He had an incredible sense of timing, often showing up at just the right place when help was needed. He leaves behind countless memories of love, laughter, and support.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Julia Hurford, and his sister-in-law, Lee Ann Hurford. He is survived by his siblings: Doug (Judy), Steve, Deb (Chris), Frank, and Jack, as well as his beloved nephews, nieces, and many friends.
A memorial service will be held on February 4, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Simple Cremation, located at 315 E. 6th Avenue, Helena, Montana 59601. We will come together to celebrate Tony's life and the legacy of love and hard work he leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
Tony will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his legacy of kindness, hard work, dedication, and selflessness will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
