IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ann
Harris
December 19, 1930 – March 3, 2025
Early on March 3, 2025; Ann Harris departed this world after 94 years of vibrant living.
Born on December 19, 1930 to Cecil Clarke and Ann Marie Holm Sheppard in Billings, Montana; she was named after both parents as Cecil Ann. Often called Tisit by the Holm family who were an integral part of her growing up years, she graduated from Billings Senior High in 1948 where she met her future husband. As an independent woman, she began work at the Mountain Bell Telephone Company after graduation until her marriage to Jackson (Jack) Dell Harris on July 19, 1953.
Jack and Ann welcomed four of their five children in Billings, before moving to Helena in 1964. In Helena, they founded the family home on the upper westside where Ann proudly resided for 59 years. One additional child joined the family and the seven Harris's grew and thrived on Helena's upper west side.
When Jack passed away in 1992, Ann transitioned to thrive as Grama Ann to twelve grandchildren. Her efforts involved her in many elements of her grandchildren's lives. She was also involved with PEO Chapter AA-CF and Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church. She was a bit of a neighborhood fixture in her yard, on the deck, and was rewarded with dear friendships and numerous acquaintances in the area. We want to thank the neighborhood for being supportive of our mother over the last two decades.
Ann is survived by her family: Nanette Harris (Jim Skinner) and children Andrea, Jude (Monica) and Jesse Buffington; David Harris and children Emily and Sam Harris; Kathyrn Harris and children Kevin and Blaine Ferris; Suzanne (Mark) Partridge and children Lauren (Daniel) Clucas and Jordan (Chris) Richards; Sandra Schumm and children Riley (fiancé Nick Bortolani), Luke and Tate Schumm. Ann is also survived by her sister-in-law, Brenda Harris Thomas and great grandchild Greg Buffington. Ann was predeceased by her husband Jack, her parents, son-in-law Edward Schumm and great grandchild William Buffington.
A service will be held at Helena's Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, 3580 N Benton Avenue at 11 AM on May 27, 2025 followed by a gathering for family and friends at her son's house.
Donations may be made to the PEO Chapter or to Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church or the Lewis and Clark Public Library.
