Obituary

Andrew "Andy" Lloyd Isola died unexpectedly of natural causes on Friday, 16 January 2026 in Helena, MT at 67 years of age. Andy was born to Martha Dunn and Lloyd Isola on 21 April 1958 in Butte, MT. Andy graduated from Butte High School in 1976. After graduating, he spent a few years in a traveling band playing drums and guitar then moved to Helena in 1979 and worked at Gamer's Shoes. In 1980 Andy married Roxi Vaughn. Andy and Roxi had two children, Eric and Ashley, before divorcing in 1989. On 13 July 1991 Andy married Renè Hannon.

Andy worked for 40 years for the State of Montana starting in 1980. He worked at the Department of Revenue for 13 years and then at the Department of Public Health and Human Services until he retired in 2020.

From a young age Andy enjoyed skiing and riding motorcycles, was an avid reader, and had a great love of music. He got his dream job working at the Go Cart track in Butte when he was 12 years old by showing up and doing the job until they started paying him. Music was always a big part of Andy's life. He played in many bands over the years, but the most important one was the Renè and Andy Show. Andy also wrote music. One of his songs, "Spirit of the Cowboy," was used in an independent film. Andy produced two albums; Thrill Hill (1996) and We're All Kids on This Bus (1999). Andy co-founded Lost & Foundation with his wife Renè and several friends in 1995 and served as president of the non-profit for 15 years. Lost & Foundation was an organization of musicians who held benefit concerts and over the course of 20 years raised half a million dollars in donations for members of the community who experienced catastrophic events, many of them seriously ill children.

Andy is survived by his wife of 35 years Renè Isola; son Eric Isola (Carrie) and daughter Ashley Palomera (Carlos); grandchildren, Eliana, Noah, Isabella, Gideon, and Francesca Isola, and Sophia, Carlos Jr, and Adrian Palomera; father Lloyd Isola; sister Sheree Isola (Bill Bahr); and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

Andy is preceded in death by infant grandson Jackson David Isola, brother David Isola, and Mother Martha Dunn Luthy.

We will miss Andy's generous spirit, sense of humor, and his bright outlook.

There will be a celebration of life for Andy on Sunday, March 1, 2025 at 2 PM at Miller's Crossing, Helena, MT.
